northern voyage. Mingming sails through drift ice off the east
Greenland coast, 12 July 2009. Over the next year I'll post extracts
from the whole voyage, with the best and most interesting clips first,
rather than chronologically.

As I'm off sailing for a couple of

here's three clips showing Mingming's whipstaff in action. This
is a very sophisticated and expensive piece of kit, fashioned from a
bit of line, two blocks and an old broom handle.
